The Special Operations Unit Captures Media Interest

The transport of a large radome intended for an updated cruise ship shows CAYCO's operational capabilities.

This week, a radome, a truncated sphere structure with a diameter of four meters, was delivered at the port of Cádiz. The radome was previously assembled and loaded at the facilities of the logistics operator CAYCO, located in the Cadiz Free trade Zone. Radomes are the prominent white covers installed on ship decks that protect communication equipment—especially satellite equipment—from harsh weather and the aggressive maritime environment.

The maximum dimensions for vehicles performing land transport in the European Union are 2.60 meters wide and four meters high, making the transport of this piece require the planning and execution of a special operation. CAYCO requested the necessary permits and scheduled a nighttime operation to avoid traffic issues.

As part of the Special Operations Unit services group, CAYCO offers its clients the planning and coordination of oversized loads, for the transport of goods whose large dimensions or weights necessitate a special operation.

The updating of cruise ships—in which the shipyards of Cádiz are internationally recognized for their facilities and highly qualified workforce—and the activity in the Cadiz Free trade Zone are key drivers for the province, regional, and national economy.

These circumstances, along with the spectacular nature of the exceptional international transports frequently carried out by the Andalusian logistics operator, captured media interest, with the press paying close attention to all news related to new job prospects in Cádiz.
